In Spain you are not usually expected to pay for your drinks until you are leaving. This is especially true when you stray from the main tourist areas. So do not be surprised if after ordering and receiving your cerveza or café solo you are not asked for any money.

If you want milk with your coffee, it is always best to ask for it (otherwise you are in danger of being given a small black coffee). So use con leche 'with milk'.
